The researchers at the INGV-Bologna branch are involved in studies on dynamic processes of the Earth System and on mitigations of the natural calamities. Main topics are:
climate variability with the use of high resolution models;
ocean forecasts for the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea;
collection and elaboration of data on the earthquakes effects (present and past) and monitoring of the national territory;
modelling of seismic, volcanic and geodynamic fenomena and statistical hazards estimates;
physical oceanography and biogeochemical cycles in the global ocean;
data assimilation systems in numerical ocean models.
