PNRA 2004/2.5 - Geomagnetic and Seismic Permanent Observatories
The project aims to collect, study, and order the data recorded at the Mario Zucchelli Station (Baia Terra Nova, Antarctica), with technical operations of updating amd maintenance of the permanent instrumentation devoted to the reserch on geomagnetism and seismology. Magnetometres e seismometres have been installed at the italian base in 1986, and more recently at the french-italian station of Concordia Base (Dome C).
In the framework of the project, summer measurment campaigns are organized in Antarctica to study microseismicity in Baia Terra Nova and Victoria Land areas, in particular at David Glacier, thanks to a non-permanent seismometric network. The data are validate in Italy, and then distributed according to the standard international procedures.
